Product Description

Overview

Polished Tantalum Wire is a fine wire material drawn from high-purity tantalum metal (typically with a purity of 99.95% or higher). It is renowned for its extremely high melting point, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior biocompatibility. It is primarily used in the anode leads of tantalum electrolytic capacitors, medical implants, heating elements for high-temperature vacuum furnaces, springs in the chlor-alkali industry, and aero-engine components, making it an irreplaceable key functional material in modern high-end manufacturing. Our company has established partnerships with dozens of countries and regions worldwide through high-quality customized services and attentive pre-sales and after-sales support. Tantalum Advantage

  • With an ultra-high melting point and excellent thermal stability, it can operate stably for extended periods below 1200℃. Its low coefficient of thermal expansion and strong resistance to thermal shock make it suitable for extreme environments such as rocket nozzles and high-temperature furnace heating elements.
  • It exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance; the dense oxide film (Ta₂O₅) formed on its surface resists corrosion from hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and aqua regia, making it suitable for corrosive environments such as chemical reactors and heat exchangers.
  • It possesses excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, enabling stable current conduction and high heat dissipation efficiency. This prevents performance degradation or damage caused by heat accumulation during operation, making it particularly suitable for the conductivity requirements of high-power, high-precision electronic components.
  • It has high strength and good ductility, allowing for cold drawing and winding at room temperature. Furthermore, alloying (e.g., adding 2.5% tungsten) can increase strength by over 30% while maintaining formability.
  • It is highly stable in human body fluids, non-cytotoxic, and has excellent tissue compatibility, allowing for long-term implantation without causing rejection reactions; it is known as a "biocompatible metal."
  • It is non-magnetic and will not be affected by magnetic fields, making it suitable for applications such as aerospace and electronic equipment that are sensitive to magnetism.

Polished Tantalum Wire Application

1. Tantalum Wire for Capacitors: As the core electrode material of tantalum electrolytic capacitors, tantalum wire is widely used in smartphones, laptops, servers, automotive electronics, and aerospace electronic equipment due to its high specific surface area, excellent anodizing performance, and stable capacitance characteristics.

2. Semiconductor Manufacturing Auxiliary Materials: Used for sputtering target support in semiconductor wafer processing, leads for heating elements in high-temperature furnaces, and conductive connection components in integrated circuit packaging. It meets the requirements of high vacuum, strong corrosion, and high-temperature environments in semiconductor manufacturing, helping to improve the precision and yield of chip manufacturing.

3. Aero-engine and Spacecraft Components: Used in the manufacture of high-temperature gas path components for aero-engines (such as combustion chamber liners and guide vane fixing components), and thermal protection system components for spacecraft. The high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and resistance to extreme environmental corrosion of tantalum wire can withstand the harsh conditions of high temperature, high pressure, and strong radiation in the aerospace field, ensuring the structural integrity and operational reliability of equipment under extreme conditions.

4. Medical Implant Materials: Used in the manufacture of pacemaker electrodes, wires for artificial joint coatings, and auxiliary components for dental implants. Tantalum wire can form a stable bond with human tissue, ensuring the long-term lifespan and safety of implanted devices.

5. Chemical Corrosion-Resistant Components: Used in the manufacture of electrode leads, catalyst carrier wires, and sensor probes for use in strong acid, strong alkali, high-temperature, and high-pressure reactors.

6. Metallurgical Auxiliary Materials: Used for heating element leads in high-temperature metallurgical furnaces, crucible support wires in vacuum smelting, and conductive and structural components in rare metal purification processes.

7. Precision Instruments and Special Equipment: Used in key structural and conductive components in marine navigation instruments, deep-sea exploration equipment, and high-temperature sensors, as well as in high-end jewelry processing in the jewelry industry, fully leveraging its advantages such as resistance to extreme environments, biocompatibility, and unique metallic texture.

Process

① Tantalum powder is pressed into electrode blanks and then repeatedly melted in a vacuum arc melting furnace or electron beam melting furnace to remove gaseous impurities and low-melting-point impurities, resulting in tantalum ingots with uniform composition and dense structure.

② Tantalum rods are forged using free forging or die forging processes to break down the as-cast structure, refine the grains, and improve the material's plasticity, laying the foundation for subsequent drawing.

③ The forged tantalum rods are heated to 800-1000℃ and subjected to multi-pass hot rolling or warm rolling processes to reduce the diameter, further refine the grains, and improve the material's mechanical properties.

④ The tantalum rods are gradually drawn into tantalum wires of the target diameter using a continuous or vertical wire drawing machine in multiple passes. Vacuum annealing is performed in between to prevent wire breakage during subsequent drawing.

⑤ The drawn tantalum wires are straightened using a straightening machine to control the straightness of the wire, meeting the precision requirements for wire morphology in electronic components and medical implants.

⑥ Conduct quality inspections throughout the entire process, such as component testing, dimensional accuracy testing, mechanical property or special property testing, to ensure that product quality meets customer requirements.
